At its heart, Scentfish is about rediscovering value in what others overlook: the beauty in second lives, the elegance in imperfection, and the quiet power of intention.
Scentfish was born from a lifelong appreciation for beauty with history. A quiet rebellion against the throwaway culture that discards objects of elegance simply because they’ve served their original purpose.
I’m Jasmine Taylor, the founder of Scentfish and a London College of Fashion alumna with a background in fashion accessories design. Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to materials and forms that carry stories: pieces that have lived, been loved, and still hold undeniable beauty. One of my earlier collections explored the fragile and ephemeral nature of art, celebrating impermanence while highlighting the quiet strength in delicate, time-worn objects. That same sensibility has always extended to fragrance. I’ve never been able to part with a beautiful perfume bottle; their sculptural shapes, weighted glass, and lingering whispers of scent feel too precious to consign to the bin. My mother, a lifelong collector of vintage perfume bottles, shares this sentiment entirely her shelves are a testament to the enduring allure of these small works of art. Scentfish is, in many ways, an idea that has been quietly brewing for years.
My deep interest in sustainability, particularly within the fashion and luxury industries, has only grown stronger over time. The beauty world produces exquisite objects, yet far too many, especially premium glass bottles, end their journey prematurely in landfill or incineration. Scentfish exists to change that narrative.
Joining me as co-founder is David Taylor, an intellectual property attorney and scientist (with a background in physics). David brings a unique blend of legal expertise in protecting innovation and a scientific mindset shaped by rigorous analysis and problem-solving. His work in IP has spanned strategy, licensing, and enforcement, while his physics training has instilled a deep respect for precision, efficiency, and the responsible use of resources. Like me, David is passionate about sustainability, creativity, and art and sees immense value in reimagining existing materials and designs rather than constantly producing new ones. Together, we combine creative vision with practical protection: I focus on the aesthetic and circular design ethos, while David ensures our etching process, branding, and business model are robustly safeguarded against misuse, allowing us to scale responsibly and maintain trust in the secondary market.
We rescue authentic empty perfume tester bottles (and welcome donations of personal empties) from waste streams, whether from luxury beauty counters or generous individuals. Each bottle is carefully authenticated to confirm its genuine origin, laser-etched with the Scentfish mark and “Not for Resale” for responsible stewardship, and offered as-is, empty, uncleaned, and full of potential, for refilling, upcycling, collecting, or creative repurposing.
This is not recycling in the traditional sense; it is reuse prioritising the extension of life for durable, high-quality items at the top of the waste hierarchy. By keeping iconic luxury design in circulation longer, we reduce the demand for new virgin glass production and its associated environmental footprint. Every bottle we rescue and resell contributes to a more circular approach in beauty and fragrance, an industry ripe for thoughtful change.
Beyond the environmental mission, Scentfish is committed to meaningful social impact. We donate 5% of net profits to Beauty Banks, the UK charity dedicated to ending hygiene poverty by redistributing essential personal care and hygiene products to those facing hardship. Through their network of over 1,500 partner organisations, Beauty Banks delivers dignity, confidence, and basic wellbeing to thousands ensuring that our work not only protects the planet but also supports people who need it most.
At its heart, Scentfish is about rediscovering value in what others overlook: the beauty in second lives, the elegance in imperfection, and the quiet power of intention. We invite you to join us in celebrating objects with a past and giving them a thoughtful future.
With gratitude,
Jasmine Taylor & David Taylor
